ENVS 19904. Experiments in Everyday Life In the face of ecological crisis across the planet, rather than focus on what is failing, how do we build the world we wish to live in? In this class we weave together literary and philosophical forms of experimentation with a grounded, manual version of real world skills. Personal expression, including poetry and reflection, are joined together with hands-on responses to environmental concerns that build the practical skills of self-sufficiency, including working with wood, fibers, and plant materials; designing and building small homesteading equipment from scratch; working the soil; and making food. Class meets once per week for three hours, allowing time for extended work sessions, time spent outdoors, and local field trips. [AH]
