AMST 26103. THE ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN WORLD: CULTURES AND INTERACTIONS This course offers an introduction to the many cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world and pays particular attention to encounters, interactions, and connections between them. The course surveys the cultures of ancient Egypt, Babylon, Israel, Persia, Phoenicia, Greece, Rome, and Iberia. It focuses on the themes of imperialism, identity, religion, travel, and exchange. Emphasis is placed on reading primary sources and examining archaeological remains. [AH]
