IDPT 19929. ACADEMIC RESOURCE CENTER SEMINAR Your first (and second!) year at college is a thrilling, hard-won achievement. It can also be overwhelming. This course is designed to help students transition to college-level learning and to the College of Woosters unique campus. College learning often differs from high school coursework in both the amount of work assigned and the cognitive tasks required, and many students discover that strategies that worked in high school are not sufficient for this new academic environment. This course will introduce students to a wide range of effective strategies to help them better engage in college coursework. We will cover topics like metacognitive learning skills, managing time and coursework, avoiding procrastination, etc. Students will not only learn about effective strategies but will also practice them in class. Coursework culminates in a term project in which students choose one skill area to research and practice in greater depth over the course of the semest
