ENVS 15000. INTRODUCTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS Environmental Politics concerns itself with three tiers: the local, the national, and the global. The course asks questions such as: What are the commons? Who governs them? What relationship do individuals have to their natural environment? We address issues of decision-making, and how regime type and party ideology matter when making environmental policy. Economic and growth priorities of the state are examined, as are the welfare and sustainability priorities of the state. Finally, the global portion of the course addresses international relations and environmental policy- looking at what bodies govern, and how global shifts impact global "commons."
