CHIN 39903. MAKING CHINESE IDENTITIES This course introduces students to important literary, biographical, and historical texts from 20th and 21st century China and considers how these works can provide a perspective on the complexity of identity in times of rapid political and social change. The course aims to both help students develop a nuanced understanding of Chinese society and develop skills for reading advanced Chinese texts. The course is open to advanced Chinese learners and Chinese native speakers. Most readings will be in Chinese.
