GREK 30100. SEMINAR IN GREEK LITERATURE (ADVANCED LEVEL 1) Offered in conjunction with GREK 20100. An in-depth translation and examination of representative texts-for instance, Homer, Hesiod, selected Greek lyric poets, Sophocles, Euripides, Thucydides, Herodotus, Plato, Aristotle, Attic orators, and occasionally non-literary materials (e.g., inscriptions or papyrus). Peer teaching of Greek grammar; active engagement with commentaries, reference works, and the scholarly literature; textual analysis, both literary and historical, as well as theoretical approaches to Greek history and Greek literature. Readings will change from year to year. May be repeated once for credit. [AH]
