SPAN 102: Our approach to teaching and learning can be characterized as communicative. This means that the focus of the course is on language use in meaningful contexts. You will spend a good deal of class time using the language to perform tasks that simulate a communicative event that might occur in real life; this will involve meaningful communication between you and your instructor and you and your classmates. Indeed, your role in the learning process is vital. Much of the responsibility for learning a language falls on you, as a student. To derive the utmost benefit from this class, attendance is essential. This course invites you to take advantage of the possibility of practicing the language in class. Attendance to each session is required.
