BIOL 35200. ANIMAL BEHAVIOR We will learn about the scientific study of animal behavior by deeply
exploring some well-studied and fascinating investigations of particular
behaviors. We will begin with an
exploration of science and society as it relates to animal behavior, and then
move on to discussing the history, core concepts, and approaches of the
scientific study of animal behavior. Then, we will conduct several series of
readings from the primary scientific literature about particular case studies
in animal behavior. Along the way, you will be exposed to new concepts in
animal behavior and reinforce the core concepts from previous courses and
earlier in the semester. You will also gain skills in carefully reading
scientific literature, synthesizing information from multiple sources, and
communicating information about Animal Behavior to the general public.
