URBN 10100. CONTEMPORARY URBAN ISSUES More than 80% of the U.S. population and half of the world lives in urban/suburban areas. While such urbanization rates have provided the world with invaluable opportunities for development, creation, and inspiration, crises that cities face all around the globe are undeniable. From economics to criminology, and from arts and culture to climate change, tourism, transportation, social sciences, environmental and urban studies, or design and planning, no matter what you are interested in, the context will inevitably be urban. With particular attention to the U.S. cities and suburbs in this course, we look at the issues challenging urban dwellers and suggest solutions.
