PSCI 13000. INTRODUCTION TO POLITICAL THEORY This course examines texts in the history of political thought in order to answer foundational political questions including: What is the role of power in a community? What is justice and what should be the means and ends of government? What role do your material conditions, culture, and customs play in the formation of political identities and commitments? Through close textual analysis of authors such as Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Kant and Marx, we will test our own political commitments and deepen our understanding of contemporary political thinking.
