FREN 29903. MULTICULTURAL FRANCE IN FILM Multicultural France in Film explores the different people groups, cultures, and belief systems that comprise Hexagonal France today as they are portrayed through film. Topics of discussion include colonialism and postcolonialism, immigration, religion, urban politics, and intersectionality. Students gain an understanding of the culturally specific notions of family reunification, secularism, and the banlieue, and question how film challenges or reinforces established notions of French identity. Students design their own short as final project.
